1. The Beginning
1. The beginning of the brand
Bontà Italia was founded as a sister brand of Bontà Delle Marche, a family-run food company based in Ancona, Italy.
We love food and wanted to bring that passion to Japan.
As we were preparing, we came across Pinsa at a new store in Ancona.
I was blown away by how delicious it was, and I decided that I had to bring this wonderful pinsa to Tokyo, so the whole family got together and started working towards opening Bontà Italia.
However, after overcoming repeated delays due to the impact of COVID-19 and the blockage of the Suez Canal, it finally opened in September 2021.
Since then, the business has expanded to include pinsa wholesale and catering. Currently, in partnership with Di Marco, the original pinsa, the company is working to spread authentic pinsa throughout Japan and Asia.
2. Our Passion for Pinsa
3.
Our Philosophy
2. Attention to detail in pinsa
Pinsa Romana was invented in 2001 by Corrado DiMarco, who after thousands of trials and errors developed a dough that was lighter, healthier and easier to digest than pizza.
The secret lies in our unique blend of soybean, wheat, and rice flour. This makes it low in calories and sugar, yet rich in flavor.
It creates a light texture.
Pinsa is characterized by its oval shape, crispy outside and light and fluffy inside. We use only authentic Di Marco pinsa flour to faithfully recreate the traditional Roman taste.
3. Bontà Italia's philosophy
Bontà Italia is committed to using the highest quality ingredients while preserving the authentic Pinsa tradition. Our skilled Pinsaiolo (Pinsa chefs) have undergone specialized training in Europe and at Pinsa associations, faithfully recreating the authentic technique.
However, we are not just preserving tradition, but are also challenging ourselves to innovate to suit Japanese tastes. We aim to combine "authenticity" and "modernity" and strive to let more people know the appeal of pinsa.
Our goal is simple: to bring joy to every table through the exquisite Pinsa Romana dining experience.
4. Our Journey & Future
4. Growth and Outlook
Since opening in 2021, we have expanded our Pinsa wholesale and catering business and have continued to grow in partnership with Di Marco. We have exhibited at many events to introduce authentic Pinsa, including Foodex Japan (annual exhibit), the Italian National Day event at the Italian Embassy, and other international food exhibitions.
Our mission is to continue spreading Pinsa Romana throughout Japan and Asia, and we aim for further development. We welcome partners who will join us in creating the future of Pinsa, and we look forward to growing together.
